Solvang Century is Saturday! I just decided to look up the elevation chart. I am starting to feel nervous. I wonder how I am going to feel at the end. My nutrition strategy is picky bars, almond butter sandwich, gels, and nuun. There will be 5 rest stops so I will stop at least a couple for additional snacks if needed.
I almost skipped big gear Wednesday (double spin class with reillysmith ) because I could barely keep my eyes open after 9 straight hours of work in the office. So glad I sucked it up and went anyway! I feel so much better. Alarm is set for 4:45AM. Early morning miles await!
Another beautiful ride to Palos Verdes. It started out foggy but the clouds lifted. 40 miles total. Later this afternoon - easy 8 mi run.
Big Gear Wednesday with reillysmith One class down, one to go. Doing the work!
This felt good. I had an unexpected rest day yesterday but am feeling a lot better today. Some days you need to just listen to your body.
This afternoon Revolution Fitness held a double spin to support reillysmith . Rather than skip my long run this morning, I decided to take the plunge and do a double spin on top of my long run. (I had never double spun after anything over a 10 mi run). I have to admit that I felt like I was going to vomit halfway through. I gave the class my all. I am sure that this endurance training will help my 100 mi bike ride next month. Tomorrow - early morning 40 mi ride from Malibu to Pt Mugu.
These Thursday morning shake out runs are getting a little bit easier. My quads and calves are still adjusting to the Wednesday night work. Ouch.
Tonight - another 5 miles at an easy pace. 10 miles for the day
I have been in a bit of an under the weather funk for the past couple of days. This run might have been the ticket out of the funk. Tomorrow - more miles and double spin - BIG GEAR WED NIGHT! I love love love Wed night.
2014 Race Schedule
March - Solvang Century - first 100 mile ride
July - Eugene Marathon
October - Challenge Rancho Cordova (70.3)
Another fun ride with the Aids Lifecycle group! The group was huge today. The actual ride was only 42 miles but we rode to and from the bike shop for extra mileage. Climbed 2 canyons with ease (drenched in sweat but never felt like it was too much). Big gear Wednesday spin classes with Reilly have changed my perspective on what I am capable of on the bike. I am climbing so much better now. I love it! Cycling outdoors makes me so happy! I am officially training for the Solvang Century ride in March. My first 100 mile ride!
Sadly I missed a 10k race with Tumblrs in my own back yard! So sorry that I screwed up the date guys. :(
Tomorrow - long run on the trails. I have a feeling it is going to hurt.
