I woke up bright and early for spin class this morning. It was fantastic! I am doing my best to make 4 classes happen this week. 1 down, 3 to go.
4.75 mi along the beach tonight. My legs are acclimating to the higher weekly mileage.
I still need to chose my next race…

I signed up to ride the metric century in Ojai on June 1. I have spent a lot of time on the bike recently and feel like this is a step forward in triathlon training. Good times ahead!!!! A 70.3 in September is calling my name.
50 miles complete. Bike selfie and pic of my neighborhood at the end of the ride. Today’s journey was about overcoming fear I did not even know I had. I was so scared on a steep decent (two lane road, cliff face on one side of me, cars on the other) that my legs shook uncontrollably. Thankfully I slowed down and safely wove my way down the mountain. I will call that a win!
The first time I have run over 13.1 since the Napa marathon in March. Felt pretty good! Thanks to Abby and Rae for the company.
Double spin with Reilly followed by 4 miles of heat training in Griffith Park with my friend Abby. The sun was oppressive on the trails and I cursed myself for putting my body through this today. I still have no idea what I am training for but certainly a 70.3 or marathon. We will see what happens.
Scenes from my 43.5 mi ride this morning - burned out Pt. Mugu State Park. So sad that I did not run the Ray Miller trail before the fire. Stopped along PCH to check out the dolphins. No pictures of dolphins, only scenes from the road and a selfie. Reached 34.5 mph for the first time ever. Yay!
Pit stop at Leo Carillo State Beach. First time riding north on PCH since last summer. Feels good!
The last two weeks were intense. I took yesterday and today “off”, meaning I was not in the office but still checked email and took phone calls. I need to bring a bit more balance to my life and hope to do that over the next few months.
In the meantime, I have put in strong training sessions. I took Monday off to recover from the half marathon + 10 hour work day that followed it on Sunday. Tuesday 4 mi easy, Wed 1 hr TRX am, 1 hr spin + 4 mi run pm, Thurs rest, Friday am spin, pm spin, Saturday planned 40 mi training ride and maybe a couple of miles of running. All in all, a good week. Time to add some swimming to the mix!
Happy Friday tumblrs!
Now off to work all afternoon! OC Half Marathon tomorrow at 6:15AM, leaving the house at 4:00AM. Did I mention that I have to work most of tomorrow as well??? Clearly I am training for a long endurance race, just not sure which one yet. Let’s see how I do at the half tomorrow…
Mid way through a 40 mile ride. Windy and cool at my fav Starbucks. Around the corner, sunny and warm. Funny so cal weather!
