Marathon is 5 weeks away. First true long run tomorrow morning after weeks of illness. This training cycle has been unlike any other in my 8 years of marathoning. My goal for race day is to finish strong.
Training this week: Sun 6 mi, Mon 4 mi and 1 hr strength, Tues double spin AM, Wed spin and 1 hr strength, Fri Double spin
With the Cannondale SuperSix Evo! I am drunk in love and want to cuddle a piece of carbon. What is wrong with me???? Triathlete problems????
ironphenix just challenged me to get my butt to the pool in the next 7 days. Challenge accepted! 70.3 in Oct is not going to train for itself!
We made our very first grilled pizzas on the BBQ tonight. Dough is from scratch using my husband’s homemade sourdough starter. I give grilled pizza a thumbs up!
The last week in training: 2 x 1 hr strength training, 3 x spin class, 50 mi bike ride, and 11 mi over 3 runs. Did not complete my long run today. My calves are sunburned and I did not want to subject myself to more sun. Need to be sure to reapply sunscreen!!!!!!
Given my lack of running last week - marathon training officially begins tomorrow!
Happiness is spin class followed by an hour of TRX with my trainer. I definitely exorcised a few demons tonight. Apologies for the terrible gym selfie but wanted to be sure to document the moment.
I have been on the work merry go round and it feels like it is never going to end. I had a few days out of the office (ie vacation) yet I ended up working remotely. I see a light at the end of the tunnel and it keeps getting brighter.
In the meantime, I am still training. After my body rebelled last weekend, I backed off a bit. I have continued twice a week TRX strength training. I already feel that I am getting stronger. Last week: 2 TRX, 3 runs, 2 hour bike. This week: plan to run more miles, add spin, and TRX. I am headed back to the Ojai Century ride on Saturday. I plan to do the metric century again this year. I love this ride! So much fun!
Santa Rosa Marathon training begins this week. Challenge Rancho Cordova 70.3 is also approaching. Fun summer ahead!
30 mi ride this morning. We usually do a 40 mi out and back but I did not have it in me. Even my normal easy spin felt hard. I was not able to run yesterday. I had massive stomach issues that kept me close to the bathroom all morning. Thankful my stomach is fine today. What is going on with me? I wonder if this crap week of running and riding has anything to do with the fact that I started strength training twice a week. Maybe my body is just tired. We will see how I adapt.
5.6 miles around the Marina at sunset. It is windy!!!! I took my new handheld for a spin. I love it!!!! The pouch holds my phone and fuel. Big upgrade from the one that I have used the last couple of years. Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, grandma and sister! Weekly recap post later tonight.

11 miles in my new kicks this morning. First long run since the 40 miler two weeks ago. I am beginning to feel like myself again. Recovery is always tough for me. I have to remind myself to be kind to my body. Happy Saturday tumblrs!
