I signed up to ride the metric century in Ojai on June 1. I have spent a lot of time on the bike recently and feel like this is a step forward in triathlon training. Good times ahead!!!! A 70.3 in September is calling my name.
The first time I have run over 13.1 since the Napa marathon in March. Felt pretty good! Thanks to Abby and Rae for the company.
12 miles through Santa Monica with Abby. Her last long run before the San Diego marathon in 2 weeks. Enjoying my role as coach. Now headed home for another 4 miles along the beach. 16 miles FTW!!!!
Tonight I went to spin class with my trainer Dana. After class she made me promise that I would not weigh myself for a week. I agreed to it and told her I would post it here. Gulp. I weigh myself every day, often multiple times a day. Over 3 years ago I lost 30 lbs and have kept it off. I have stayed within the same 5 lb range sometimes dipping lower, sometimes higher but mostly level. Over the past few months I have been frustrated by the scale, hence the homework from Dana. I have a feeling that I will go through scale withdrawal. We will see what happens.
Once upon a time I used to wake up to meet my pals for a 5AM 7 mile tempo run (almost) every Tuesday. I honestly cannot remember the last time I woke up to meet them. January? February? Hard to say. The good news is that I woke up this morning at 4:15 for the 5:15 start time. I am happy to report that I survived. But.. OUCH! I forgot how much it hurts to push myself up and down the hills.
Double spin with Reilly followed by 4 miles of heat training in Griffith Park with my friend Abby. The sun was oppressive on the trails and I cursed myself for putting my body through this today. I still have no idea what I am training for but certainly a 70.3 or marathon. We will see what happens.
Scenes from my 43.5 mi ride this morning - burned out Pt. Mugu State Park. So sad that I did not run the Ray Miller trail before the fire. Stopped along PCH to check out the dolphins. No pictures of dolphins, only scenes from the road and a selfie. Reached 34.5 mph for the first time ever. Yay!
The last two weeks were intense. I took yesterday and today “off”, meaning I was not in the office but still checked email and took phone calls. I need to bring a bit more balance to my life and hope to do that over the next few months.
In the meantime, I have put in strong training sessions. I took Monday off to recover from the half marathon + 10 hour work day that followed it on Sunday. Tuesday 4 mi easy, Wed 1 hr TRX am, 1 hr spin + 4 mi run pm, Thurs rest, Friday am spin, pm spin, Saturday planned 40 mi training ride and maybe a couple of miles of running. All in all, a good week. Time to add some swimming to the mix!
Happy Friday tumblrs!
After a well earned rest day yesterday, back at it today. 4 easy miles along the beach at sunset. Playa Del Rey, CA.
Half marathon in the am, work all afternoon and evening. Weekend of events at work culminating in a big event tonight. I feel like I am doing my own version of an ultra.
