Running in the heat after weeks and weeks of illness felt as painful as it sounds. The good news is that I ran today. Not the long mileage I had planned but better than sitting on the couch. Alarm is set for early morning long mileage tomorrow. Let’s see how it goes.
Day off from work and running in the heat. Not the smartest move I have ever made but need to get some miles on these legs. The plan is slow and easy miles. See you on the other side!
4 weeks until marathon 19!
Slow as molasses long run done!!!! Thanks to Abby for slogging it out with me.
Marathon is 5 weeks away. First true long run tomorrow morning after weeks of illness. This training cycle has been unlike any other in my 8 years of marathoning. My goal for race day is to finish strong.
Training this week: Sun 6 mi, Mon 4 mi and 1 hr strength, Tues double spin AM, Wed spin and 1 hr strength, Fri Double spin
The good news is I ran into a couple of my original running buddies from the LA LEGGERS running club. The bad new is I made it 5 miles before calling it quits on the long run. After 8 years of running, you would think I would know better than to jump right in with heat training. I plan to run another 8 this evening at dusk when the sun is low and a bit cooler. In the meantime, I am headed to the spa for a massage and pedicure. Hopefully that will put me in the right state of mind. Happy Sunday!
About to begin my long run. Kicking myself for not doing this earlier but still battling sore throat illness.
Longer midweek run for the win despite major DOMs from TRX with the trainer last night. I think she made me do a million squats. This run started out too fast and I barely made it through the first mile. I pulled back and took it easy the rest of the way. I think I may actually make it through 15 on Saturday (fingers crossed). Tomorrow mini brick session before the celebration begins.
Broke down in tears during spin class tonight. Apparently I left it all on the mat.
Coming back from illness is a reminder to be grateful for your health. This 4.75 (4.2 + .56 cool down) was tough. I have to push out a long run this weekend and based on the run this morning I am going to need to take it slow. Hopefully as the week progresses things will get easier.
8 weeks to the Santa Rosa Marathon! After weeks of illness, I am finally feeling better and ready to get back to running. I have some catch up to do but at least I ran the 40 miler in April and have a base.
Also good news, I got into the San Francisco Nike Women’s Half. I am looking forward to it!
