Ragnar Team Advice
A couple of days ago I put out the call for Ragnar veterans to advise our So Cal Ragnar team.  Thank you to runningforme and pattidoestris for this awesome advice! From runningforme:  “I have ran and helped plan 2 of these type races (Ragnar, Reach the Beach) for my company. We usually field around 8 teams so everthing that could go wrong has happened to us! Sometimes when they go wrong...

Looking for Ragnar Advice
Our fearless leader Robb is working out the final details for So Cal Ragnar Team Rabid Roadrunners.  Any tumblrs have any Ragnar advice that you would like to share?  Things that worked?  Things to avoid?  Any guidance is welcome.  I will post the comments in a future post so that those of you who are planning a Ragnar can glean from the veterans.

LA Marathon 2012 Race Recap
Last year, LA was a torrential downpour (you can read all about it here) and this year was supposed to be the same.  I decided to wear the same outfit as last year just in case the rain did show.  Thankfully the rain never came!!!  What a blessing!  I hoped that this boded well for my race.   I took the 5AM bus to Dodger Stadium and found a quiet warm place to sit inside. The stadium provided...

Marathon Eve- LA 2012 "Luck of the Irish" Edition
It is the eve of marathon number 15, my fifth LA Marathon, marking the 6th year of of my running career.  I have missed one LA marathon in 6 years, the 2009 edition that was held on Memorial Day.  It happened to be the year that my sister finished grad school and her graduation was the same weekend as the marathon.  I am not sad that I missed that race.  I was not a fan of the old LA marathon...

Post Traumatic Stress/Growth
An alternative title for this post - dealing with the reality of rain on race day while deep in the taper crazies. Recently I heard that you can either experience post traumatic stress or post traumatic growth (ie grow from an experience rather than let it hinder your growth). I chose to grow! It looks like it is going to rain on marathon Sunday. I could cry just thinking about my...

New Kicks
Let me introduce you to my new kicks, the Saucony Mirage: This picture does not do the color justice.  They are electric blue and florecent pink.  When I saw the pink, I knew these shoes were meant to be mine. The Mirage feels like I am barely wearing a shoe.  I still have slight trepidation about running the marathon in them since I will not have run over 8 miles before the race.  It may be a...

Glorious Weekend
Congrats to all the tumblrs who killed it out there this weekend!  So many first time marathoners, marathon PRs, etc.  You inspire me! The last couple of days have been filled to the brim.  My heart is full.  I spent time with friends, ran, and spun my heart out.  It was 86 degrees in LA today.  I am thrilled that it was not marathon Sunday.   I have hit a stride with my training (this is not...
