Up with the Sun
I left the house at 4:55 this morning and the sun was already peaking over the horizon.  I love this time of year!  After running in the dark all winter/spring, it was great to see the sun.  5.25 miles at race pace.  I felt a little wonky from allergies but other than that it was great. Plan for the week: Tues 5.25 mi am, spin pm, Wed double spin, 5 mi easy am, Thurs 7 mi, Fri double spin, Sat...

Good luck charm
The only running I have done over the past three days has been running after my almost 2 year old niece.  She is definitely my good luck charm.  I am hope that she grows up to love running as much as her auntie.

Faster and Faster
There is nothing noble in being superior to some other man.  The true nobility is being superior to your previous self - Hindu proverb I posted a couple of weeks ago that I have been working on speed and endurance in my quest towards Boston 2012.  I have been confronting the mental blocks I have towards running faster.  Confronting yourself is tough work.  I do not have a lot to report other than...

Run with Jenny42K
This afternoon I had the pleasure of meeting up with Jenny for three miles around the Rose Bowl.  My first tumblr meet up!  It was fun to get out of West LA and run a different route. We had a great run. After our run, we went back to Jenny’s for a couple of beers.  My first attempt at a picture of us turned out horrible (at least my reflective lulu shorts look cool).   Switched mirrors...

10 miles thwarted
I woke up at 6AM to run 10 mi before spin class and it was raining.  I decided against running in the rain. Now, of course, it is a beautiful sunny day but I have plans so 10 mi will have to wait.  On the up side, spin was great (lots of climbs and intermittent sprints). Happy Sunday fitblrs!

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free...

Letting it go
I have spent the last couple of days plotting out my training plan for the Santa Rosa Marathon.  I decided to hold off on running an Ultra until the fall.  Instead, I am focused on speed and endurance.  For me, running speed is mostly an issue of my confidence and not ability.  I had a heart to heart talk about my running goals with Jeff, the owner of Runnergy  (Sherman Oaks, CA), on Sunday.  He...

Los Gatos Creek Trail
This post is a few days overdue.  I was in Nor Cal for 5 days earlier this week and was able to run the trail that started it all, the Los Gatos Creek Trail.   Start of the four mile loop, Main Street, Los Gatos, CA.  When I was in my late teens I walked this four mile loop a couple times a week.  Back then I could not imagine running the whole thing.  It begins as a flat/slight up hill trail,...
